Sonic 3 and Knuckles Review
Jul 2nd
Today we are reviewing Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. It was not in a simple cartridge, but it was Sonic the Hedgehog 3 plugged into Sonic & Knuckles’ lock-on port. It was twice as long as the Original Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and also included the ability to play as Knuckles. After completing Launch Base Zone, you will have to beat the Sonic and Knuckles Zones, while transforming your Chaos Emeralds into Super Emeralds. This game’s got to be one of my favorites.
Split Disassembly Hacking – The PSB Message
Jun 29th
Today we’ll be showing you how to get the Press Start Button message back on the title screen in Sonic 1. All you need is a split disassembly, (downloadable here) and an ASM editor. We recommend you use our Sonic Hacking Studio, or another editor except Notepad. The message was present in earlier builds of Sonic 1, but it won’t be shown because the Sonic Team Presents screen uses up RAM and doesn’t clear all of it, causing the Press Start Button to stay hidden. Let’s get started! More >
Sonic 2 Review
Jun 15th
Today we are reviewing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Sonic 2 was thought to be one of the most polished Sonic titles, and also featured the new character, Miles Prower, but mostly known under his nickname Tails. Sonic also gets two new abilities in Sonic 2 – the Spindash and Super Sonic. For a change, there are now 7 Chaos Emeralds instead of 6 and collecting all of them will let you turn into Super Sonic. Unlike Sonic 3, there are no saves so if the console is reset, the game has to be restarted from the beginning. Tails can fly in this game, but he can not be controlled when flying. More >
Sonic 3 Review
Jun 13th
Today we are reviewing Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Sonic 3, as it is most commonly known, was the end of the better Sonic 2-D Games. Even though it is the last real one of the series, it is probably the best as well. Sonic still has the abilities from the older titles, but also got the new Insta-shield. It allows him to extend his attack radius for a short amount of time. Tails can also fly and swim underwater as well – nothing new except he these abilities can now be controlled. With the second player controller attached, it is possible to make Tails carry Sonic. Sonic 3′s cartridge also contains a small chip that lets you save your progress throughout the game, as well as lives, continues and emeralds. There are 6 save slots, one No-save slot and a delete function. It can also be locked onto Sonic and Knuckles to produce Sonic 3 and Knuckles.

Sonic CD Review
Jun 12th
Today we’re reviewing Sonic CD for the Sega/Mega CD. Even though Sonic CD is an antique, being almost 20 years, it was still quite advanced for its time. Sonic CD features time travel, allowing you to travel between 4 different versions of each level: Present, Past, Good Future and the Bad Future. A Good Future can be made by destroying the robot generator in the past, or by obtaining all time stones. More >
Knuckles’ Chaotix Review
Jun 7th
The Sega 32X probably had one of the 32-bit games – Knuckles’ Chaotix. As the title implies, Sega decided to let their mascot, Sonic, sit this one out and instead put the new kid on the block, Knuckles, into the spotlight. It has many good and bad things, but how does it start out? You run around collecting some rings, and then see Robotnik messing with a machine. Inside the machine is one of the crappy only-used-once characters: Espio the Chameleon. Robotnik sees you and for some random reason, both characters get bonded together with some kind of magical rubber band. The game takes place in 5 different Zones, called Attractions. Each attraction has badniks and different hazards in it. Unlike the older games, the robots are bowered by grey rings that can not be collected and dissolve almost immediately.
